Proxemics Project

This video shows a top-view of the crowd condition of the experiment. The participant is standing and watching the scene while a 6 virtual agents walk up and down the street. At a pre-determined time a crowd of agents is triggered making the environement a busy street scene. This trigger forms a marker in recordings of skin conductance and heart-rate measurements in order to assess the influence the crowd has on an otherwise restive subject.

Description

Don't get so close to me! Psychophysiological study of personal space in VR. People's heart rate and overall stress levels increase when crowded by other people and their cognitive abilities are reduced.

These are the findings of this experiment which used VR to immerse participants in a virtual environment and surrounded them by a virtual crowd of people.
