Where Art Meets Science

Welcome to VEXR (Virtual Environments and Extended Reality). I have been creating computer generated virtual environments since 1990 when I wrote software simulating light interreflection as part of my DPhil thesis. At that time, a single image of a complex scene required hours of rendering. Today we are on the cusp of real-time photorealistic virtual worlds and virtual agents. AI generated scenes and AI populated virtual worlds. Extended Reality technology allows us to experience spatialised digital content anywhere and everywhere. We should use this technology to educate, innovate, and make the real world better.

My main interests are in creating human-centered interactive virtual environments and applying XR technology to real-world problems.
